Safety and Security Concerns

Are there any patient safety/security issues or ethical concerns related to Nursing Informatics?

When information is collected during the nursing informatics process, there is always a concern about how to secure data. Safeguards must be put into place to ensure the accuracy of collected data and in its transmission to a secure storage platform. Data encryption is a vital process of nursing informatics that must be implemented to ensure patient data is kept private and used only by the appropriate resources. In today’s connected world of the internet, the possibility for international data hacking is a real and constant concern. Security is a concept that cannot be applied after a project or application is completed, but rather it must be a constant focus from the project design inception.
